Frequently Asked Questions – Char Dham Yatra

What is the best time to do Char Dham Yatra?+
The best time for Char Dham Yatra is from May to June and September to October, when the temples are open and weather is favorable. The Char Dham temples typically open in late April / early May and close around Diwali in November due to heavy snowfall.
What is the correct order to visit the Char Dham temples?+
The traditional order is Yamunotri → Gangotri → Kedarnath → Badrinath, moving from west to east across the Garhwal Himalayas. This sequence is also the most efficient for road travel and is followed in our standard itinerary.
Is a helicopter option available for Kedarnath?+
Yes, helicopter services are available from Phata, Sersi or Guptkashi to Kedarnath for pilgrims who prefer not to trek. This is offered as an optional add-on and is not included in the base package price.
What places are covered in the Char Dham Yatra package?+
The 11N/12D package covers: Haridwar / Rishikesh (Ganga Aarti) → Barkot → Yamunotri Dham → Uttarkashi → Gangotri Dham → Guptkashi → Kedarnath Dham → Badrinath via Panch Prayag → Badrinath Dham → return to Haridwar / Rishikesh / Dehradun.
What is included in the Char Dham Yatra package?+
The package includes: pickup & drop, welcome drink, AC vehicle for the entire circuit, experienced driver, darshan and registration assistance, all toll taxes, parking fees and driver's allowance, and all applicable taxes. Exclusions include hotel stay, meals, helicopter charges, pony/porter charges, and 5% GST.
How many days are needed for the complete Char Dham Yatra?+
We recommend a minimum of 11 Nights / 12 Days to comfortably complete all four dhams along with proper rest between long mountain drives. Shorter 9–10 day options are possible but involve longer daily drive times.
Is registration required for the Char Dham Yatra?+
Yes, the Uttarakhand government requires biometric registration for all Char Dham pilgrims, which can be done online or at registration counters in Haridwar/Rishikesh. Our team assists with this registration as part of the darshan assistance included in the package.
What should I pack for the Char Dham Yatra?+
Essential items include: warm layers (temperatures drop sharply at altitude, especially at Kedarnath and Badrinath), rain gear, comfortable trekking shoes, basic medicines, a walking stick for the Kedarnath trek, sufficient cash as ATMs are limited in remote areas, and any personal prescription medication.
Is the Char Dham Yatra suitable for senior citizens?+
Yes, with proper planning. Pony, palki and helicopter options are available at Yamunotri and Kedarnath for those unable to trek. We recommend consulting a doctor before the trip and carrying prescribed medication, and our itinerary builds in adequate rest days between high-altitude stretches.
