Sarkaghat is a quiet but strategically positioned tehsil town in Mandi district — the headquarters of Hire Himachal Cab. Situated at around 780 metres on the banks of the Uhl River, Sarkaghat serves as the gateway to some of the most pristine and least-visited landscapes in inner Himachal Pradesh: the Barot Valley with its trout-filled Uhl River, the dense Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary (home to leopards, black bears, and goral), the Shikari Devi Temple at 3,350 metres, and the old Jogindernagar railway terminus of the Pathankot narrow-gauge heritage line. The Delhi to Sarkaghat cab journey covers approximately 440 km via NH44 through Chandigarh, Kiratpur, Bilaspur, and Mandi, taking around 10 hours. Since Hire Himachal Cab is headquartered on Mohin-Gopalpur Road, Sarkaghat, our drivers know this town better than any other operator in India. We know the shortest route to every village, every hotel, every trailhead in the Sarkaghat subdivision. When you book Delhi to Sarkaghat with us, you're booking with locals.
Sarkaghat is our home. We are the only major cab service headquartered in Sarkaghat itself. Our drivers have driven the Delhi–Chandigarh–Kiratpur–Mandi–Sarkaghat route hundreds of times and know the best dhabas, the toll bypass roads, and the fastest approach into Sarkaghat from the Mandi side. Our prices are honest, our drivers are verified, and our support is 24/7.
Barot Valley, 40 km from Sarkaghat, is one of Himachal's best-kept secrets — a lush green valley carved by the Uhl River, thick with deodar and oak forest, famous for trout fishing, and ringed by peaks touching 3,000 metres. The valley has no commercial overcrowding and retains an authentic Himachali village character. The Uhl River (used for the Shanan hydropower project) winds through the valley floor, and the trout hatchery at Barot is one of the oldest in Himachal. Our Sarkaghat-based drivers regularly take guests up to Barot for overnight stays and trekking.
The Shikari Devi Temple at 3,350 metres, dedicated to the Goddess Shikari, is one of the most revered temples in Mandi district. Accessible from Kamand or Karsog, the temple sits above the tree line with spectacular views of the Kullu and Mandi valleys. The route from Sarkaghat via Karsog is one of the less-crowded approaches. The temple is particularly special because the deity has no roof — it remains open to the sky through even the harshest winters.
Nargu Wildlife Sanctuary covers over 270 sq km of dense Himalayan forest between Mandi and the Kullu border, with Sarkaghat as the closest major town on its eastern edge. The sanctuary harbours leopard, Himalayan black bear, barking deer, goral, and over 150 bird species including the Western tragopan (Himachal's state bird). Permits are required and can be arranged through the Forest Department office in Mandi — our drivers can guide you to the right entry points.
Call +91-6230261947 or WhatsApp with your Delhi pickup address, travel date and time, number of passengers, vehicle preference, and your exact destination in Sarkaghat. Since Sarkaghat is our home base, we offer the most competitive local rates, can arrange onward trips to Barot Valley, Shikari Devi, Jogindernagar, or Mandi city, and our drivers can give you the best local recommendations for food and stays.

The Uhl River passing through Sarkaghat and up into Barot is one of the finest trout fishing streams in Himachal Pradesh. Fishing permits are available from the Fisheries Department in Jogindernagar. The best season is March to September. Ask us about combining a fishing trip with your Sarkaghat cab booking — we're locals who fish here ourselves.
Jogindernagar, just 28 km from Sarkaghat, is the terminus of the famous Kangra Valley Railway — a narrow-gauge UNESCO heritage line running 163 km through the Kangra and Kullu valleys. The Jogindernagar station and the old hydroelectric infrastructure (Shanan Power House) are fascinating colonial-era engineering landmarks worth a visit.
