Day1ARRIVE LEH
Landing at the Leh airport is one of the many thrilling experiences that you are going to have while on this unforgettable trip. Our representative will greet you on your arrival and take you to your hotel. Enjoy your welcome tea/coffee. Get yourself acclimatized to the high altitude and lower atmospheric oxygen level. Evening go on a brief orientation tour of Leh visiting the Leh palace and Shanti Stupa. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day2LEH TO SHAM VALLEY (75 KMS / 4 HRS)
Enjoy an early morning breakfast , then head out on the Leh – Kargil Highway along Indus river visiting Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, the magnetic hill where it is said at a particular spot, a vehicle moves against the gravity uphill with the engine turned off . Drive further and you will reach the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. Later visit Likir and Ridzong monasteries, both of which are ancient having dramatic landscape. If you are up for it, you can choose to hike up the hill to reach Ridzong monastery. By evening reach sham valley and stay overnight in tented accommodation.
Day3VALLEY TO LEH VIA LAMAYURU (180 KMS / 05 – 06 HRS)
Today Drive back to Leh post breakfast. Enroute visit Lamayuru monastery which is worth a visit for its beautiful mural paintings and for the breathtaking views one gets to have of the entire Indus valley. The drive to the monastery is exquisitely beautiful as you pass by the moonland famed to have similar land formations as found on the Moon. You will also visit Alchi Monastery before you reach Leh. In the evening spend some time exploring the nearby local markets and return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day4LEH – CHUMATHANG – TSOMORIRI (240 KMS / 06 – 07 HRS)
In the morning leave for Moriri Lake, visiting Shey& 3 Idiots Rancho School on the way. Further driving through a picturesque landscape will take you to Thiksey, an impressive complex rising tier upon tier on a hill above the village. After visiting these monasteries we drive on towards Chumathang, which is famous for medicinal hot springs. Further short drive crossing a bridge and a few local villages will lead you to Moriri Lake, located at 14,000 ft. Recently opened to foreigners ,Moriri Lake is also the breeding ground for numerous species of birds, like the bar headed goose, crested grebe, the Brahmini duck and the brown-headed gull. Upon arrival we sign up at our camp for overnight stay .
Day5TSOMORIRI - TSOKAR – TANGLANGLA – LEH (240 KMS / 8 HRS)
After an early breakfast, we check out from the camp and visit Korzok village with its houses and Gompa appearing like a mirage. The few barley fields at Korzok must be among the very best cultivation within the world. Later we drive to Tsokar where the nomadic people called Changpas are most outstanding feature. They live as vagabonds, grazing herds of goats, sheep and yaks. Changpas pass their days with their animals and move with their flocks. These people still carry on living in their old ways, untouched by any civilized influences of the 21st century. Drive to Tsokar Lake is very scenic. After spending some time we proceed back to Leh and return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day6LEH–NUBRA VALLEY VIA KHARDUNG LA 18,390 FT. (120 KMS / 4 – 5 HRS)
Post breakfast we drive to Nubra Valley. The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La famed to be the highest motor-able pass in the world .From the pass one can see all the way south over the Indus valley to seemingly endless peaks and ridges of the Zanskar range, and north to the giants of the Saser massif. Nubra Valley is popularly known as Ldumra by Ladakhi people. It is situated within the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. Upon arrival in Nubra we sign up at our camp in Hunder for overnight stay. In the evening you'll walk round the tiny villages to ascertain how the locals sleep in this a part of the planet . Spend the night at the camp.
Day7NUBRA VALLEY – LEH (120 KMS / 4 – 5 HRS)
After an early breakfast, check out from the camp and drive to Hunder where you can enjoy a ride on a Bactrian camel amidst the sand dunes of this high altitude desert with snowcapped mountains on the horizon. Between Hunder and Diskit you encounter sand dunes besides the road. Seen in isolation you'll rather be amongst the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. On your return journey stop at Diskit, which is the headquarter town of Nubra Valley. It is famous for 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire Valley. Later repel to Leh within the late afternoon via Khardung La top. In the evening you'll stroll round the market place for a few eleventh hour souvenir shopping.
Day8LEH TO PANGONG LAKE (140 KMS / 4 - 5 HRS – ONE WAY)
Have an early breakfast and leave for Pangong Lake via Chang La, passing through long and easy winding roads and small hamlets. Enjoy a brief photo-op at the Chang La. The famous blue brackish Lake of Pangong is 6 Kms wide and over 133 Kms long with two third of its area falling on the Tibet side. After success of 3 Idiots, a popular Hindi movie, this beautiful natural location has attracted many tourists from all over the world. Upon arrival we check in at our camp near Pangong Lake where we have dinner and stay overnight.
Day9PANGONG LAKE TO LEH (140 KMS / 6 HRS)
Morning is at leisure to capture the sweetness of the lake one last time and later we repel to Leh. On the way we visit Hemis Gompa, the largest monastic foundation of Drukpa Kagyu Order of Tibetan Buddhism. Check in to the hotel in Leh as you reach back for an overnight stay. In the evening you can stroll around the market place for individual activities.
Day10DEPART LEH (FLY OUT)
As your adventure comes to an end today, leave for domestic airport with happy memories.
